Dialogue - Laura Sanchís

Archie and Alison, on their way to the shopping centre, are talking about the new kid in school.

Archie: Alison, have you seen the new kid in school? I think his name is Marc isn’t it? He is a loser, I don’t like him.
Alison: What do you mean? Of course I’ve seen him, it’s been a month since the school started and he goes to our class. I’m glad you started talking about it because we need to talk, I’m very disappointed at they way you treat him.
Archie: You must be joking; I treat him just fine. We may have some arguments but nothing more than that. I have to say that everything is his fault, I hate his personality and everything he does, it’s annoying and I can’t stand it.
Alison: Are you hearing what you’re saying right now? Archie, you’re bully! And I don’t care if you don’t want to accept it, I saw the other day how you we’re about to hit him. Stop being mean, he didn’t do anything just let him be.  If you don’t do something now, this may end very badly, and you may be expelled.
Archie: But don’t you realise that we’re friends? I’m only joking and I’m sure he doesn’t even care. I’m not a bully, I just like to bother him sometimes….
Alison: Archie how can you not notice? You’re making his life impossible. He doesn’t want to come to school because he is afraid of you. Do you think it’s normal? I’m going to answer it for you, it’s not. And I’m telling you, if you don’t stop, I’m not going to be your friend anymore.
Archie: I’ve never thought of it that way. Now that you say it, you are right I’m just being stupid. I’ve been having family problems lately, so I guess I just pay it off with Marc. What can I do?
Alison: You should talk about those problems, get it off your chest. Maybe, you can also start doing sport so you can keep yourself amused, read or do something you enjoy. But please, stop using your anger to hurt people.
Archie: You’re right, thank you for telling me! I promise that I won’t argue anymore with Mark and I’ll be nicer. I’m really going to try to be a good person. My problems don’t have to affect others. You’re a good friend Alison.
