Nowadays, we live in a world of
consumerism where if you do not buy the latest trend on the market you are not
in style and you may be judged. Unconsciously, every time a new phone comes in
or a new TV appears on the market we have the necessity of buying it so we can
prevent ourselves from feeling left out or not cool enough. Shops take
advantage of this situation and create strategies like the Black Friday, a day
destined to buy things with discount.
In my opinion, the Black Friday is a
sham. They make you feel like you need to buy stuff since the prices have been
reduced and it is a bargain. Shop owners are not making this day for our
benefit, the purpose of this day is to call our attention so we buy more
products due to its price. For example, if in the beginning you were thinking
of buying just one mobile phone, because of the Black Friday it can result in
buying four more by the fact that they are cheaper. We end up wasting the same
money so for them it is a win.
Secondly, for a lot of products, the
Black Friday involves buying online which I think it is not as trustworthy as
it seems. Not everyone is aware of what they can do, they can swindle you by stealing
your money or your personal information. Also it is not that cheap, they may reduce the
price of the product you are buying but they increase the taxes. So what it
might have been a bargain it ends up being a fraud, they trick you saying that
it is cheaper but when you are about to pay, they charge you money by saying
that It costs a lot to send their products.
In conclusion, from my point of view
the Black Friday should not be a thing. It is only a new form of consumerism
where they make you think everything it is cheaper so you buy more products. In
the end of the day, the Black Friday it is not different from any other day and
you end up wasting the same amount of money or even more.
